About the Business

Traditional Stone and Cob buildings were constructed using natural materials from the surrounding land, local stone laid as plynths with clay and other organic materials mixed together to create a breathable material which has done the job extremely well for centuries.

Problems occur when modern building techniques are used to render Stone & Cob, i.e. the use of cement render. This causes the cob to stop breathing by trapping moisture and causing the organic material to fail, it also increases weight of the wall which can then part company with the cob, this can happen externally and internally due to the use of other modern finishes and can cause major structural issues.

These problems are overcome by the proper application of Lime Mortar, this is a specialist job and requires years of experience to get it right. This is where I can help you.
